Aquapackers, unique floating accommodation in the heart of the Abel Tasman National Park.

Aquapackers is a backpacker style accommodation onboard a specially converted boat. It is the original and only floating accommodation in the Abel Tasman National Park in Nelson, New Zealand.
Our boat is a 13 metre catamaran called Cat-a-rac. We anchor in Anchorage Bay which is a 3.5 hour walk from Marahau (where the road ends) or a 20 minute water taxi ride from Kaiteriteri or Marahau. If you decide to kayak, it's an easy day's paddle from Marahau.

Cat-a-rac has been transformed into a house boat and been refurbished to comfortably accommodate backpackers in clean and modern facilities, including hot showers, flush toilets, comfortable beds and has drinking water.

The accommodation aboard our boat is made up of 3 private double cabins (one of which can be transformed into a twin or 4-bed dorm room) and 2 dorm rooms - one in each hull (5 single and 1 double bed) with a total capacity of 22 passengers.

Included in the price of a dorm room or a private cabin is:
